Crafty Magnets

My Sister-in-Law made me some magnets last week and I thought they were the cutest things ever!! I just had to give them a try. They were quite easy to make too. I used clear stones that I had purchased for another project, cut-out magazine images, glue and magnets. (magnets can be bought at most dollar stores)

• I first found what images I wanted to use. I tried to stay in the same theme throughout.
• Then I glued the stone onto the image using embellishment glue. After I let it set a bit, I cut the excess paper from the stone.
• Finally, using Gorilla Glue I glued the magnet onto stone.

Ella's Felt Board

I came across an idea to make a Children's learning board out of felt and thought I'd give it a try. I can't remember whose blog it was from since it was so long ago that I saw it, so if it this was your original idea, I thank you!


Here's how I did it:


I painted an old frame, cut different shapes, numbers and letters out of felt and covered the old picture with a large sheet of felt. The great thing about felt is, is that when you put one piece on top of another it stays in place without any kind of adhesive. This makes a great learning tool for young children.
Next step after this will be for me to cut out shapes that correspond with the letters!

Olympic Spirit!!

Well, the Vancouver 2010 Olympics are well underway and I couldn't be happier! It is fair to say that I have the Olympic fever, as I'm sure most of my country has. For a good part of the day we have our T.V tuned into CTVs coverage of the games. I bought myself a pair a red olympic mitts and dusted off the old vocal cords for my rendition of 'OH CANADA'. I've been trying to teach my little girl (who's 9mths old) the national anthem. She smiles at me when I sing it but it's more of a "I feel bad for you, I'm so embarrassed, please Mom STOP!!" kinda smile. I can't help it though. I am a proud Canadian and I'm so thrilled that the world gets a taste of the how wonderful Canada is!!!!

May I introduce my sweetie ... Miss Ella

I thought I would share a little bit about my sweetheart ... my daughter, Ella.
She is by far my greatest accomplishment. She is going to be 9 months tomorrow and I can't believe how time has flown by. She loves to dance and yell "DADA" at the top of her lungs! She's a momma's girl. She will most likely play some high impact sport when she's older (judging by the way she plays now) and she LOVES chasing our two dogs around. She is pretty and sweet with a little bit of sass.
I thank God each day for blessing my life with someone as wonderful as her.  =)

Paper Craft Purse

I created these Paper Craft Purses today while my little girl was happily napping! ...

I came up with a template and then started cutting and pasting! ...

I'm going to use these for Valentine's Day and fill them with goodies for my nieces!

 

Another Fancy Frame

I bought a frame from Value Village and made it new again! I painted it lightly with a purple metallic paint, added a metal word, and a cute bow. FANCY! =)

MAGAZINE HOLDER

I made this Magazine Holder today and am quite pleased on how it turned out! ... I used an old Rice Crispy cereal box, cut the shape that I needed and covered it with scrapbooking paper using Mod Podge to glue it in place. Sounds Easy...but not really! lol. It was a frustratingly messy job! Hopefully now that I've figured out all the kinks the next one will be easier.

Apothacary Jar

So I've been doing a lot of  "crafting research" lately and I've been seeing a lot of these jars. I must say... I LOVE THEM! So, I made one myself. Surprisingly it was a lot easier than I thought. I bought Gorilla Glue and couldn't believe I have ever crafted without it. This glue will change my crafting future for sure! lol

I used a jar I bought from Dollar Giant, some ribbon and a metal word I had on hand, Gorilla Glue, and a wooden candlestick (which I painted) that I bought from Value Village.

Now I just have to figure out what I'm gonna put in it  =)
